How Your Contributions Were Used: Part #2 - Safe Haven Upgrades
Updated: Apr 27, 2020
As you know from our previous post, our second annual trip got cancelled.
Prior to the trip, we had requested for donations and contributions to help carry out our efforts at the JAAGO Foundation Safe Haven at the Unchiprang refugee camp in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
While our trip couldn't come to fruition, we worked closely with the kind people from JAAGO Foundation to figure out ways we could continue impacting the lives of the Rohingya children to the best of our ability from Singapore.
We are happy to inform you that your contributions have been channeled to empower and educate the Rohingya children who sought refuge at the refugee camp. The needs of the students who are part of JAAGO Foundation's Safe Haven programme were fulfilled through your generosity.
More details below on how your support made an impact:
As of today, this is the amount that has gone into complementing by JAAGO Foundation's efforts. We have some balance left, which we have donated to the Cahaya Surya in collaboration with them for Coronavirus relief efforts for the Rohingya families.
We bought bookshelves for six classrooms. With this in place, JAAGO volunteers and teachers are able to use the shelves to store teaching materials and story books for the children. To reduce the impact of flooding in classrooms during the monsoon season, your donations were utilised to build walls around the makeshift classrooms. JAAGO also requested for other classroom necessities like fans to help the children focus better during days with soaring temperatures. To minimise disruptions due to power failure, solar panels were also installed.
JAAGO Foundation recently shared with us a summary of their 2019 development assessment results at the SAFE HAVEN learning center and school, and it puts a huge smile on our faces to see the progress these children have made! We would like to share this piece of good news with each and every one of you who believed in this cause and helped to make this possible as well. Together, we can really make a difference!
